| School-Based Services
Schools used to be expected to teach reading, writing, and arithmetic. Today, that’s just the beginning. Today, schools are challenged to address numerous social and emotional problems that children may exhibit at school.
Our School-Based Mental Health programs provide mental health services for children at school. These services are for students who have been identified by their school as having emotional or behavioral issues. This includes children who are depressed, hyperactive, oppositional, defiant, anxious, or have school behavioral problems.
These services are a collaboration of the child, family, school and mental health professionals. The mental health services reinforce the students’ academic and social success. As part of this service, family members learn improved communication and problem solving skills to support their child’s success.
School districts or individual schools contract with Samaritan Behavioral Health to provide these school-based services. Service is provided by licensed professionals including child psychiatrists, registered nurses, and licensed social workers and counselors.
All referrals for school-based services must be made through the school district in which a child resides.
